Police authorities in Aweil State have arrested three suspects for allegedly killing a man in the area recently.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Lt. Colonel Nofel Abdallah, Aweil State Acting Police Commissioner, confirmed the incident.

He pointed out that they have detained three people who were found involved in the incident over past two past two days ago.

The police officer appealed to all citizens in the state to report every criminal activities to the police for immediate action.

Seven rape cases in Aweil

 Separatly, about seven cases of rape have been reported in a span of one month in Aweil, state officials said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Director of Gender and Child Welfare in Aweil state, Joseph Mel, said seven cases of rape have been reported to his office from early March to early April.

Mel added that the security organs in the area, managed to apprehend one of the suspects who was accused of raping a pupil after drugging her.

He said the victim is now being treated at Aweil Civil Hospital, while calling on organisations to sensitize the population on the dangers of sexual violence.
