Aweil state parliament has summoned the Minister of Finance Garang Majak Bol for a briefing on how he allegedly sold seven vehicles that belong to the state without knowledge of the executive and lawmakers.

The official, according to Aweil State Speaker Daniel Deng Ayom Ayom was summoned to provide proper explanation on four issues that include: the sale of seven cars that belong to the state, and turning the former NBeG trade and investment ministry into a vocational centre without following the right procedures.

He was also invited to briefed the August house on PIT (Personal Income Tax) and the total of monthly funds received from the national government since the former Northern Bahr el Ghazal was split into three states.

“It is actually our constitutional mandate to call any minister to come and brief us over issues that are of great interest to the public and the minister was summoned actually on 4 main items,” said Ayom.

He said the minister has requested more time to prepare himself on the issues that were raised by members and to inform the assembly when he will be ready.

Ayom revealed that the minister of local government was also summoned on Tuesday last week to brief the house on the borders of Aweil Municipality, logos used by county commissioners and the number of payams that are supposed to be proposed in eight counties of the state.

But he added that the minister has not responded saying that she needed to go back and prepare herself. He urged all ministers to cooperate with legislators and taken their summons to be something positive and having no link to politics.
