The ousted chief whip of the Aweil state parliament has welcomed his replacement, saying it is the prerogative of the governor to remove him.
“Yes, I have been replaced and I have welcomed the decision and congratulated my successor. We are all the same, members of the same party. So there is no problem,” Aguer Wol Aguer told Radio Tamazuj.
“Whoever is chosen by the party leadership takes over the role the predecessor was performing and whoever was in the office steps down to wait for another assignment when the leadership decides. This is what I have done,” he added.
Aguer was last week removed from his position by a gubernatorial order in which other officials were also affected.
The head of the state revenue authority, Akol Ayom Wek, state secretary general Dominic Kang Deng and Bar Mayen county commissioner Kon Achuil Madut were also affected by the new changes.
Their successors were named. Garang Kuac Ariath was appointed as the new state secretary general, Majok Wek Akol was appointed as the head of the state revenue authority and Santino Mayuat was appointed as the government chief Whip , while Diara Madut Chan became the new commission of Bar Mayen County replacing Kon Achuil Madut.
