Deng Deng, director of the Aweil rice scheme in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal says this year’s rice cultivation has reduced compared to last year due to fuel shortages in the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Deng pointed stated heavy rains have also obstructed movements of agricultural machines. He pointed out that fuel shortages affected farming plan, saying they cultivated 484 acre only compared to 1004 acre last year.
