Aweil Municipality has announced last Tuesday a new order to close all centers of prostitution.

According Aweil Town Mayor Simon Tong Deng, the order will be implemented in about a week’s time, adding that any failure from the business owners to comply will result in legal measures against them.

“We passed the order yesterday, we gave them a full week to the sex business owners to close sex centers. Anyone who fails will be fined and police will remove the shelters,” the mayor said on Wednesday.

The mayor said the resolution will not affect normal bars where people drink, but added that there are illegal bars which he said have turned to be adultery sites and will be closed down soon.

The mayor further added that he had investigated and identified the sex businesses himself several days ago by disguising himself and entering all the bars with his bodyguards.
