The Aweil Town Council has asked all local butchers to reduce high prices of meat that were fixed without any approval from the council.

Local residents also complained about soaring prices of meat at the market in the town, saying a kilogram of meat is sold at 200 SSP.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Simon Tong Deng, Mayor of Aweil town, said butchers have recently increased the prices of meat. He revealed that the butchers did not receive any approval from the town council.
