The Aweil hospital has been operating for six months without funds, the hospital director told Radio Tamazuj in an interview. The director also said the hospital lacks equipment and is experiencing a drug shortage.
“We are in a bad condition now,” said Dr. Juac Dut Wol. The head doctor listed a series of issues that threaten safety, specifically an overflowing waste tank. “We wrote a letter to UNMISS and MSF to help us, but now we are in bad condition”
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has supplied power to the hospital and is providing maintenance for generators.
Dut said the hospital lacks equipment, and there is a shortage of antibiotic, rabies, and malarial drugs. Because it is the rainy season, Dut was particularly worried about the shortage of malaria drugs.
“Last week we received an emergency supply from the central medical store, but it is not a full consignment,” Dut said. “We have a shortage,”
