15 victims of the recent fire outbreak in South Sudan’s Lol State have been discharged from Aweil hospital, a medical doctor said.

The hospital director, Reec Mathok Diing, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that 15 of the 43 fire victims were discharged after their conditions had improved.

“All their conditions are stable and of course we received 43 patients during the fire tragedy,” he said.

He said the remaining patients were still being treated and that they would be discharged once their health conditions improve.

There have been numerous calls for humanitarian aid for the fire victims as government and partners struggle to rehabilitate the area.

At least 35 people were reported killed and more than 60 others wounded after four villages in Korok East County caught fire earlier this month.
