Health officials at Aweil Civil Hospital in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State are calling on the national government and health partners to supply the hospital with essential drugs to save lives.

The newly appointed hospital director, Dr. Wol Wol Akeen, told Radio Tamazuj that the hospital is running on a few drugs that remain from a May 2020 consignment and is not enough for the population.

“The available medicines are going to finish very soon because we don’t have enough drugs to use. We have small quantities such as malaria tabs and syrups for small children,’’ he said.

He said Malaria and pneumonia cases have been rising in the state.

Wol advised that medical supplies be brought in quarter recalling that insecurity and poor infrastructure could lead to delays.

Aweil Civil Hospital is the main referral hospital in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.
