Aweil governor reshuffles cabinet

The governor of South Sudan’s Aweil State, Tong Akeen Ngor, has issued gubernatorial decrees removing and replacing members of his cabinet and appointing advisors on Tuesday.

The governor of South Sudan’s Aweil State, Tong Akeen Ngor, has issued gubernatorial decrees removing and replacing members of his cabinet and appointing advisors on Tuesday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Aweil state political advisor, Stephen Ayaga Zubeir, confirmed the changes saying it is a normal administrative routine.

He added that the mandate of the executive will elapse once a government of national unity is formed in November per the revitalized peace agreement.

The appointed ministers include;

  • Deng Ayom Ayom, minister of local government
  • Simon Ober Mawut, minister general education, and instruction
  • Ayak Zacharia Ngor, minister of water and irrigation
  • Deng Amuoi Anei, minister physical infrastructure
  • Arek Ayii Deng, minister social development
  • William Deng Tong, minister of information
  • Garang Deng Diing, minister of health
  • Karlo Kon Deng, minister of youth and sport

The governor also appointed the following in different capacities.

  • George Awath Wol, deputy governor
  • Mohammed Mustafa Mohammed, Aweil Mayor
  • Garang Kuac Ariath, deputy mayor for administration and finance
  • Deng Bol Bol, deputy commissioner of Aweil State Revenue Authority
  • Angelo Atak Akol, advisor ministry of agriculture
  • Gabriel Kuol Lual, advisor ministry of health
  • Arkangelo Uchu Dechak, advisor ministry of local government
  • Santo Ayuel Akuei, advisor ministry of youth and sport
  • Adior Deng Kiir, advisor ministry of social development
  • Joseph Lual Dengdit, advisor ministry of general education and instruction

The finance minister Andrew Lual Buol and his agriculture counterpart Joseph Garang Garang along with Aleu Makur, the commissioner of State Revenue Authority, and security and political advisors John Akeen and Stephen Ayaga Zubeir respectively were not affected by the changes.
