Yournew Wol Kuot, the newly appointed governor of Aweil State, welcomed the new assignment given to him by President Salva Kiir, while promising to initiate development projects in the state.

“I don’t have anything to say but I am very happy with President Kiir Mayardit. Everybody is rejoicing and I hope that we would work together,’’ said the new governor in a statement to Radio Tamazuj yesterday.

Kuot had served as head of the Northern Bahr al Ghazal land commission and Aweil South commissioner.

Citizens welcome new governor

Separately, several local residents in Aweil State have welcomed the appointment of Yournew Wol Kuot by President Kiir to lead the state.

Bakheit Garang Akech, a local resident in the state,expressed his happiness about the decree, saying Wol is a capable cadre to lead the state.

“We the citizens of Aweil State, we are happy about the appointment of Wol Kuot as governor of Aweil State. His appointment is good because he is one of the strong cadres of this state,” said Bakheit.

Deng Chan Chan, another citizen in the area, appreciated President Kiir for removing Governor Ronald Ruay and appointing Yournew Wol Kuot as the successor.

Deng also acknowledged the outgoing governor for providing security and exerting efforts to embark on agriculture and other development projects in the state.
