The government of Aweil state has officially started to collect social household tax across the state. Every household is expected to pay a tax of 200 SSP except for disabled and poor persons.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Regina Angeth Dut, minister of local government in the state said the fund will be used for development and service delivery.
She urged the people of Aweil to cooperate with county commissioners and tax collectors. “Your payment of 200 SSP is not for chiefs or rate collectors. You are supporting your country and your state,” she said.
The collection exercise is expected to conclude before the upcoming agricultural season.
