The government of Aweil State has announced a plan to open a vocational training centre in March, saying the new centre will provide various courses such as masonry, tailoring, carpentry and car mechanic.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last week, Ronald Ruai Deng, Governor of Aweil State, said local youth will benefit from the vocational training centre.

The state official further said the initiative came from the state government after many local youth faced difficulties to find job opportunities in the state.

He added that foreigners have dominated and controlled different kinds of trade and businesses in the area, saying local youth must learn new vocational skills to make a living.

The governor noted that the project was support by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
