The Eritrean community on Sunday handed over a state-of-the-art library complex to the University of Northern Bahr el-Ghazal State.
The impressive structure has transformed the scenery at the expansive public university in the state.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Eritrean Ambassador to South Sudan Yohannes Teklemicael said the library would enable the students to widen their knowledge and skills for the welfare of the country.
“The relationship we Eritreans have with this amazing country is historical,” said Yohannes.
Northern Bahr el-Ghazal Governor Simon Ober Mawut said the library would play an important role as a source of information and a place for knowledge creation.
“The library is meant for students, and I want to say all of us are beneficiaries. As your governor, I will also be taking my time to come to update the little knowledge that I have,” Mawut said.
He said the State Government would do what it takes to create a conducive environment for the Eritrean community and others to operate freely.
The University of Northern el-Ghazal State Vice-Chancellor, Prof Stephen Chol, hailed the Eritrean community for constructing the library.
“My message to you is that you must do something for the success of this university. We the people of Aweil have been praised all over the country. To have a strong country, you need the economy to be strong and you need education,” said Chol.
The University of Northern el-Ghazal State was established in 2011, as a government-supported institution. It is located in Aweil West County, about 800km, northwest of Juba.
