The government of South Sudan’s Aweil East state has threatened to shut down two community radio stations for alleged failure to register with the Media Authority.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Daniel Akol Diing, Aweil state minister of information said Nhomlau and Weerbei radio stations risk closure if their administrations refuse to register with the state government and national authorities.

The minister said he had received a list of registered media houses in the country but the two community radio stations have not yet registered.
