A member of the Aweil East State legislative assembly has been kicked out of parliament for alleged absenteeism.

Dhieu Kuac Deng, a representative of Duluit constituency number 11, was unseated for allegedly violating the assembly’s conduct of business procedures.

The assembly speaker Santino Deng Deng told Radio Tamazuj Thursday that the MP had, for years, failed to carry out his constitutional duties.

“The dismissal of Dhieu Kuac Deng was actually done based on the conduct of business rules. If an MP is absent for more than 18 sittings without permission, he or she will be removed,” he explained.

No replacement has been made ever since the MP was dismissed.
