Authorities in South Sudan’s Aweil East state have launched the 'Back to Learning' campaign to help kick-start education for school-age children and adults.
The Deputy Governor of Aweil East State, William Ater Lual, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the campaign was launched on Monday, saying the program aimed at encouraging both children and adult learners to go back to school.
“We made the assessment and we found out that majority of the school age going children are out of schools. Some are due to genuine reasons, including lack of support but others are related to proper advice from the parents or caretakers. We found a challenge we must address it as the state,” said Ater.
The state official pointed out that nearly 13 schools participated in the program. “Our war on education is unstoppable and it is a challenge we have decided to pursue without relenting. It is a campaign worth champion,” he said.
