The government of South Sudan's Aweil East has decided to finally move the headquarters of the state from Malualkon, which initially served as the state headquarters to Wanyjok.
Governor Deng Deng Akuei told Radio Tamazuj on Saturday that the move aimed at answering and implementing the desire of the population to comply and respect the decision of the president which chose Wanyjok as the state headquarters in the establishment order.
“In the presidential establishment order which created Aweil East as the state, Wanyjok was the headquarters. So the decision is the implementation of the desire of the people and the order. There is no politics in it. It is the respect of the choice of the people,” said Deng.
The top state official said he would continue to use the current residence in Malualkon until a state house is built in Wanyjok for complete relocation.
