Deng Deng Akuei, the governor of the proposed Aweil East State, confirmed Tuesday making changes in the cabinet and said they were meant to provide better services to the people.

“Yes, there were changes. Some ministers have been reshuffled because we would like to make use of their skills to provide better services to the people. We have noticed some of the ministers could do well in areas of their current assignments,” explained the governor when reached to comment on reports of new in his administration.

The reshuffle occurred less than six months after formation of the state government.

Some state officials deemed to be performing well were not affected by the changes, sources said.

The new state information minister Ayuel Deng Yai also confirmed the changes and acceptance of his new assignment: “The changes were made last week. It is now almost a week since I was moved from the ministry of agriculture to the ministry of information.”

He confirmed he replaced William Ater Lual, who has become the new minister of education, replacing Garang Malong Awan, who was made the new minister of agriculture.

The changes, he said, did not affect the minister of local government, Abuor Gordon Nhial and two advisors as well as Finance Minister Peter Akoon Maluil.

One of the advisors for peace, reconciliation and border demarcation, Diing Aher Ngong, was however removed and replaced with a new face.
