The governor of South Sudan’s Aweil East State has disowned a social media account opened in his name.
Governor Deng Deng Akuei said in a statement last week that hackers used his name and profile photo on his real social media, adding the fake account was created by his political opponents.
The statement signed by the state government’s secretary general Sabrino Majok Majok described the act as a crime punishable in all spheres.
“We believe that these are part of the ongoing cheap social media propaganda generated by some political rivals that have no tangible agenda for the people and the government of Aweil East State,” he said.
