‘Aweil East’ governor appoints chief whip in parliament

Deng Deng Akuei, appointed governor of the proposed Aweil East state, has appointed a government chief whip in the state legislative assembly, marking completion of parliamentary leadership after the speaker and the deputy were appointed and took oath of office early March.

Governor Deng, according to the order which became public Tuesday, named Bul Bul Dor Athian as the governor chief whip.

Bul has been one of the long serving local members of parliament representing the highland areas of the newly-created Wunlang County. He was a member of parliament in Aweil town, the administrative headquarters of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state for the same constituency

The legislator is a longtime supporter of General Paul Malong Awan, chief of general staff of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), the official army of South Sudan.
