Salva Chol Ayat, acting governor of South Sudan's Northern Bahr al Ghazal state, suspended Aweil town deputy mayor Mathok Diing Wol on Monday.

According to the suspension letter, Wol is charged with "mismanagement of public funds."

Acting governor Chol cited article 99 (2) (a) of the state transitional constitution as the basis his decision. The order came into effect immediately.
