The minister of local government and law enforcement agencies in Aweil state Ajak Michael Akok has issued a strong warning to all civil servants in her ministry to refrain from politics or leave government positions.
A source within the ministry has confirmed that the minister has threatened to take administrative measures should any administrator be found playing politics in the society.
“Let you be informed from today on that, your work as administrators is to deliver services to the people in counties. If we find any senior members of civil service involved in politics, then administrative measures will be taken against him or her,” the ministry reportedly warned.
“Only county commissioners are the one allow to involved in politics because they represent governor and president at their counties level,” the source added.
The same source who preferred not to be named because he was not authorized to talk about the ministry’s work said that the minister has further indicated plans to collect controversial the household tax beginning in three weeks’ time despite the economic crises in the country.
“Even though the majority of our people are food insecure the government depends of revenues. The government will soon start households tax collection,” the source pointed out.
