The governor of South Sudan’s Aweil state Ronald Ruay Deng has paid a one-day visit to neighbouring Gorgrial state where he met with the newly appointed governor Gen. Gregory Deng Kuach on Friday, a local official said.

Aweil’s Information and Youth Minister confirmed the visit, saying the two governors discussed border relations between the two states during a closed-door meeting in Kuacjok.

He pointed out that the discussion focused on how cattle keepers between the two neighbouring states can coexist without conflicts.

In April 2016, local authorities in Malek County in Aweil state managed to return about 51 stolen cattle to their owners in Kuacjok as a sign of peaceful coexistence between the neighbouring counties.
