Twenty-five journalists drawn from several media houses across Northern Bahr el Ghazal State on Wednesday started a three-day training workshop in transitional justice, which is included in chapter five of the 2018 revitalized peace agreement.

Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Information Minister William Anyuon Kuol told Radio Tamazuj shortly after opening the Workshop in Aweil town on Wednesday that he is grateful for the support from Hope Africa South Sudan (HASS) who are implementing the training and UNDP for funding it.

“We the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State are lucky to have our partners, the national organization that initiated this very good workshop regarding the transitional justice,” he said.
This workshop is also taking place in here and the other three states of the Greater Bahr el Ghazal region.”

A content contributor to the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), Paulino Angok, said the training will help journalists gain knowledge about the peace agreement, especially regarding transitional justice.

“The workshop is significant because our journalists need to be trained and acquire knowledge about chapter five of the peace agreement which details transitional justice,” he said.

For her part, a local radio broadcaster, Rose Ibrahim Akoon, stressed the commitment of local scribes to spreading accurate messages to local communities.

“We need to understand transitional justice very well because we are the ones taking the message to the people at the grassroots,” she said.
