Local authorities in Sudan’s Khartoum State announced they relocated 1,226 South Sudanese refugees from camps on the outskirts of Khartoum to an area called Bentiu south of the capital city.
About 147 other families will be transported next week to Joda camp in White Nile State where they will proceed to South Sudan, according to officials from the security committee.
The decision to transportation the South Sudanese families to the Joda checkpoint reportedly came after the refugees’ request.
Khartoum locality commissioner Omar Nemir told the Sudanese Media Centre (SMC) that he was briefed on the general security situation in the locality.
He said they are now supervising the relocation of the South Sudanese refugees from Al Shajera camp to Bentiu area south of Khartoum.
