South Sudan authorities have seized properties linked to the detained businessman Kerbino Wol, who was accused of masterminding prison riot in which prisoners protested against lengthy detentions in Juba early this month.
Kerbino was arrested by National Security officials in the capital Juba in April and had been detained without charge ever since.
“The government has seized all of Kerbino’s businesses directly linked to him last Friday. Government troops came and ordered the employees to go home,” Wol’s associate told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday.
He further said all businesses and assets in the name of Kerbino were seized. “Our employees are not allowed to work,” he said.
He pointed out that Kerbino has been out of contact since the government reached an agreement with inmates at Blue House on 7 October.
Last week, South Sudan government ordered all bank managers in Juba to close the accounts linked to Kerbino.
