Local authorities in Torit of South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria State have arrested two suspects of involvement in trade of stolen cattle while still searching for other suspects in the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Commissioner of Torit County Hassan Orbano said the suspects were arrested in Kiala after buying 15 stolen cattle from other people in Torit.

Separately, Orbano said they have received 1000 sacks of rice as food assistance but said it was not enough to meet the needs of the people in the state.

“We have received 1000 sacks of rice for all the eight counties but it is not enough because it will be distributed to all counties and we will get about 250 sacks. We are still in consultations on how to divide to each county,” said Orbano.
