Authorities in Khartoum introduce new regulations on aid organizations

Dr. Suleiman Abdel-Rahman, Sudan’s commissioner for humanitarian aid, told reporters at the Republican Palace in Khartoum that new regulations have been introduced in order to guide the work of foreign organizations operating in the humanitarian field in Sudan. 

Abel-Rahman disclosed that the government has adopted a new system for the foreign organizations in Sudan, noting that foreign organization will not be allowed to implement any of their projects except through national partner inside the country.

Reportedly, three foreign organizations working in the humanitarian aid have recently departed from Khartoum because of lack of funding for their projects in Sudan.

The Sudanese government downplayed the impact of humanitarian gap created by the departure of three foreign humanitarian organizations.

The humanitarian official also said that “We have agreed with the World Food Program (WFP) to provide food for the affected people of the incidents of Abu Kershola in South Kordofan State of Sudan till the end of 2013.”

He claimed that there were no new displacements caused by the recent incidents in Sidra area in North Kordofan, confirming also that the government is controlling the situation 100% in the Abu Karshola area.
