Thousand of displaced people who fled out of Duk County when it was overrun by rebels have decided to go back home after SPLA recaptured the town a month ago, according to the county government.
Duk Commisioner Elijah Monyhom told Radio Tamazuj on Saturday that more than 15,000 displaced have returned from Pan Aru and Poktap to their residential areas in Duk County.
“I want the NGOs to speed up to reach displaced people that have returned to their residences in Duk to provide humanitarian aid. There are no humanitarians to help – more NGOs helping displaced in Panyagor and I am appealing to the rest of NGOs to take a lead in provision of basic needs,” he explained.
He said the security situation in the county is calm and he urged the displaced who ran to Awerial and Panyagor to return to their homes before the start of heavy rains.
