Authorities arrest 'smugglers' under emergency law in South Kordofan

Authorities in Meiram in South Kordofan seized eight trucks and four cars carrying food supplies to South Sudan.

The government said it arrested the smugglers for violating the emergency law, operating throughout the border areas and will bring them to trial.

A spokesman said the smuggling is threatening the security and economy of Sudan, which is going through a critical period with a need to control the existing food supplies.

He said they will receive a fair trial under the emergency law.
