Clashes have reportedly erupted in the Mundri area in South Sudan’s Western Equatoria State, causing fear among local residents.
Commissioner of Mundri West Hassan Bakhit told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that unknown gunmen attacked a military garrison in an area in the east of the county. But the commissioner, who is currently in Juba for medical treatment, did not have details about the incident.
The county official said he did not have more information about the incident due to poor phone network in the area, saying no casualties were reported as a result of the clashes.
“There are reports of clashes yesterday, there were criminals who came and attacked a military garrison. So this is the information I have, but nothing happened to citizens,” he said.
