Members of Atlabara FC on Monday launched a campaign to aid the fight against the novel coronavirus in Juba.
Dr. George Lawati, a member of the Atlabara FC, told reporters in Juba that the campaign is part of their corporate social responsibility to society.
He said the club established 50 hand washing centers in Atlabara area, adding that the campaign would extend to the other parts of Juba.
Francis Amin, the President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), urged other clubs to emulate Atlabara FC’s initiative against the new pandemic.
Johnson Narsouk, a Juba City Council official, lauded the club’s anti-coronavirus campaign and its advocacy for a clean environment.
While South Sudan has only two confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, there are concerns a surge in the novel coronavirus cases would quickly overwhelm its fragile health system.
