At least two escape in prison break in Gok State

At least two prisoners who were accused of murder and awaiting court trial escaped out from the state main prison on Wednesday night of this week as the prison guards fall asleep, according to an eyewitness who preferred anonymity.

A witness said the number of escapees was more than ten but this was disputed by a prisons official.

The Director of Gok State Prison Service Brigadier General Isak Abdalla told Radio Tamazuj that only two prisoners got out of the prison in the night when they were taken to latrine.

The prison director denied a report of ten prisoners and confirmed only two prisoners jailed on adultery charges had escaped.

Gen. Abdalla said that a serious investigation will be carried out by the administration of the prison on how those prisoners got out of prison, should anybody fought to have involved in the escaping of the prisoners will also face justice.

A prison officer known as Arik Majuec Rilpuou said he saw only two prisoners escapen who were earlier brought from Douny County of Gok state to the main prison until they are taken to the court for trial.

Arik added that those two prisoners who escaped themselves from the prison will be brought back to the prison and they will face double punishments.
