The newly appointed commissioner of Aroyo County in Aweil State said he will commit himself to protect wildlife in the area.
Many species are collateral victims of the war; animals are also being hunted to offset the lack of food among the population in country.
Arroyo County Commissioner Barsham Ujieth told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the government banned all forms of animal hunting.
He pointed out that the main threat to animals is the increase poaching in the area.
Last month, the department of wildlife conservation in Aweil State said it was unable to protect wildlife due to logistical challenges.
