In Rumbek Central County, a civilian has been arrested and placed in Rumbek Central Prison for fatally stabbing Police Sergeant Chol Anyuonic in Cuei-Adukan Village within Amongpiny Payam. The incident unfolded in Rumbek County.
Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac, the police spokesperson in Lakes State, confirmed the arrest during an interview with Radio Tamazuj on Friday. He stated, “The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in Rumbek police custody for investigation.”
Maj. Makuac identified the victim, Sergeant Chol Anyuonic, specifying that he was fatally stabbed with a knife by the civilian in Cuei-Adukan. According to Maj. Makuac, the attack occurred when the assailant was intoxicated.
Describing the tragic event, he mentioned, “One of the citizens at Cueicok stabbed Police Sergeant Chol Anyuonic to death with a knife. The victim was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to the wound inflicted by the stabbing. The suspect was promptly arrested.”
According to the police spokesperson, Maj. Makuac, “The victim succumbed to death in Rumbek State hospital from a knife wound he sustained. We don’t have any information indicating that the police officer, killed by a civilian, was also intoxicated. However, we were informed that the suspect was the one who was drunk and initiated contact with the police officer. We are still investigating to determine the factors that led to the altercation.”
Maj. Makuac however did not disclose details of the main suspect but said the names of the accused had been recorded in the police file.
