A captain in the army who fired several bullets randomly at a market in South Sudan’s Aweil state on Friday has been arrested, police said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, acting state Police chief Col. Arkangelo Guot Ngor said Captain Ajou Deng Akuei was arrested by Military Police.
Ngor pointed out that the army officer claimed a Sudanese trader had stolen his phone and the court has delayed the final ruling.
“The man went angry and started shooting randomly at the market,” Ngor said Friday, adding “No one was hurt in the incident”.
Some shops were closed after the incident.
“The army officer has been arrested pending investigations,” said Ngor.
