A South Sudanese army (SSPDF) solider has been arrested in connection with the death of three people in Madhol County of Aweil State on Friday last week, police said.

A South Sudanese army (SSPDF) solider has been arrested in connection with the death of three people in Madhol County of Aweil State on Friday last week, police said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the acting Aweil East State police commissioner, Colonel Mahmoud Chan Kawac confirmed the arrest of the suspect transferred to Wunyiik military base awaiting trial.

“In Madhol County, Lieutenant Bol Garang Akeen had disputes with his wife. When he intended to shoot her, she ran to a neighbour’s house and Bol immediately killed three people accidentally when he released the bullets,” Chan said.

Chan disclosed that the soldier’s wife has been arrested to help police authorities in the investigation.

The top police officer identified the deceased as Abuk Atem, Amet Mawein and Makil Mawein.
