At least two schoolgirls were killed in an attack by unknown criminals between Torit town and neighbouring villages recently, a local official said.
Torit County Commissioner Jerman Charles Ojok told Radio Tamazuj last week that four other girls managed to escape the attack.
He further said the incident resulted in the killing of one female student and another died of her wounds later in the Torit Hospital. He added the incident occurred between Torit town and one of the villages in the area.
The commissioner disclosed that the two victims were minors, saying one female student aged 7 years old, while the other one aged 16.
The official revealed that a police patrol pursued the perpetrators, but failed to arrest them.
Jerman hinted that the criminals could be from one of the neighbouring villages where the two victims were residing.
