The Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba Paulino Lukudu Loro visited inmates at the Juba Central Prison on Wednesday to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ with inmates.
In his Christmas message to the inmates, Lukudu said his visit to the facility was to share the joy of Christmas with the inmates in the capital Juba.
“We want you to be good people in the prison. Prison is not for people who cannot go to heaven, prison is for everybody,” Lukudu said.
The religious leader emphasized the need for good relations between prison wardens and prisoners in the country.
Joseph Oliver, a prison warden, appreciated the clergyman for visiting the inmates in Juba. He called for forgiveness among the people of South Sudan so that the country can move forward.
Kennedy Kaunda, representative of the inmates, urged the government to clear the huge backlog of cases that have plagued the justice system for years.
