Traditional leaders of Anyuak community in Boma State have blamed their political leaders for fueling inter-communal conflicts for more than three years in Pochalla area.
Chiefs representing all five counties of greater Pochalla expressed their discontent on Thursday last week during a three-day peace conference in Pochalla.
The chiefs complained about lack of services delivered by their representatives in the government. The said that their representatives in the government failed to meet their demands.
According to the traditional leaders, the political leaders were busy inciting inter-communal conflicts and misappropriating public funds instead of working for development in the area.
Oman Obel, a traditional leader in Pochalla County, warned the politicians that the people of Pochalla can elect new leaders in the 2018 elections to provide them good services.
King Ojullo Metho, Paramount King of Pochalla, accused the political leaders in the area of failing to fulfill their citizens’ demands. “We have no development because of you, please never write letter in our names and send them to the president,” he said.
“If any politician is found causing conflicts among the community, he or she will be identified and cursed,” chief Oken said.
Ochalla Botrous, an MP representing Pochalla North in Boma state parliament, urged the people of Pochalla to forgive all their political leaders. “I fully agree that we the politicians were the cause of the conflicts in Pochalla County. God has cursed us, so please forgive us,” he said.
Conflict erupted over food distribution in Pochalla County in June 2015, leaving many people dead and dozens injured. May families were also displaced the conflict.
