South Sudan’s Committee for National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation today concludes a two-week training and mobilization effort in Kuacjok, the capital of Warrap.
The Committee held a training for “peace mobilisers” last year in Yei involving participants from all ten states and Abyei. The effort in Kuacjok is a follow-up on the Yei training.
CNHPR said that it is “working with the Warrap delegation to roll out the state pilot for its nation-wide reconciliation consultations,” according to a press release.
The consultations will begin directly after the training in Kuacjok, which began 20 April and concludes today.
“The peace mobilisers from various backgrounds include spiritual leaders, directors of women’s empowerment organizations, and other community leaders. Following the training, the mobilisers will facilitate and document consultations at the payam (village) level,” reads the press statement.
Peter Angui Akook, acting Warrap State Coordinator for CNHPR said, “We are here because the peace mobilisers in Warrap are eager to conduct consultations within their communities.”
CNHPR is chaired by Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul and the deputy chairman is Bishop Paride Taban.
