Anti-Juba militia disturb Abu Jubeiha area S. Kordofan

Residents of Abu Jubeiha region in South Kordofan have informed Radio Tamazuj of the presence of exiled South Sudanese militias opposed to the government of their country. Residents live in ‘permanent fear’, according to sources, as a result of the overt presence of the anti-Juba militias.

A number of sources pointed to the presence of militias at a distance of nine kilometers from the city and blamed them for attacking people's homes and constantly robbing them. There are reportedly about 1500 heavily armed troops and vehicles -- which the authorities are not able to control and have failed to properly maintain, forcing the militias to attack homes and practice robbery day and night to meet their needs.

The citizens also complained about the government's inability to provide security for them, in addition to the fact that the agricultural season this year was not as expected due to security outbreaks by militias. The civilians stated that there were fears of the impact on food security in the whole region, and demanded the authorities to immediately intervene to resolve the chaos and maintain security for the people.
