Western Equatoria State Information Minister Charles Kisanga says that another official hailing from the state was gunned down on Sunday. This comes after the killing of Mundri West County executive director on Friday.

The minister told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the official was in the wildlife service and the incident happened in the Mundri area on Sunday but he did not know the name of the officer

But he suggested the officer was about the rank of a captain in the wildlife service and responsible for wildlife in Mundri West County.

Asked whether the official had been shot by civilians or government soldiers he responded, “The area in which he was shot, there were government soldiers present. And he himself was at the petrol station, the Shell station in Mundri, in order to help with the problems of fuel in Mundri… when he was shot. When we made contact with the army around the area, they said it is not known who killed him.”

Nonetheless, Kisanga noted that the situation was improved on Monday. “Things are improving… there is no more sound of gunfire.”
