Animal health officials in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal region have announced the start of animal vaccination campaign on 15 December.

Animal health officials in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal region have announced the start of animal vaccination campaign on 15 December.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Peter Jok Dut, the director general for the ministry of animal resources and fisheries, urged all communities to collaborate with the vaccinators when visiting cattle camps.

“I am telling the people of Aweil West, East and South that there is vaccination on the 15th in all these places. The government will pay all those who will be doing the vaccinations. But you, the owners of the animals, please welcome the people who come to do the vaccinations, please give them a cup of milk to encourage them,” Jok said.

Jok said that the vaccinations will ensure healthy animals and are offered free of charge. He added that another vaccination campaign will take place in Aweil North and Centre counties in January.
