Residents living in displaced camps under UN protection in the South Sudanese capital Juba on Thursday demonstrated against demands by the government to close UN PoC3.
The South Sudanese government demanded recently that the UN POC 3 site in the capital Juba be closed down, citing crimes by a group of people sheltering inside the UN camp.
Jeremiah Gai, a community leader sheltering at the UN PoC 3 in Juba, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that their demonstration condemns the statement made by some government officials that the UN camp should be closed.
He explained that internally displaced families demonstrated and chanted slogans calling for peace and stability in South Sudan. “We are not for war,” he said.
