Anglican Archbishop Dr Justin Badi Arama has urged the South Sudan government to tackle insecurity and restore lasting peace.

Speaking during the opening of 12th Provincial Standing Committee Meeting in Juba on Wednesday, Arama called on the government to initiate dialogue to break the cycle of violence.

“We are looking forward to a political will by all the partners to the agreement. We are also looking forward to the government to put in the resources so that the different institutions could be operational and prepared for the election,” Arama said.

The clergy urged the government to show commitment to the implementation of the outstanding issues so that the democratic exercise could be realized.

“We are also looking for peace and stability and the improvement of security in the rural areas to allow people to move freely,” he said.

The US Ambassador Michael J. Adler urged the South Sudanese to embrace a culture of peace.

“All must be committed to supporting peace for all human beings. When I come here, I am reminded of how many South Sudanese are committed to that, and we will always stand with those who work for peace. It is also helpful to reflect on how the United States engagement began in the country that is now an independent state,” said Adler.
