Anglican Church of South Sudan’s new Archbishop elected

Bishop Justin Badi Arama of Maridi Diocese is the archbishop-elect of the Anglican Church of South Sudan.

Bishop Arama succeeds retired Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul as the fifth archbishop of the Episcopal Church in South Sudan, after trouncing Bishop Abraham Yel of Aweil region in the race in Juba today.

Arama said in a statement that at the top of his agenda will be to unite the church in the country. “As I come, my vision is that Christians in South Sudan should see themselves as brothers and sisters,” he said.

“I want to thank my father the outgoing archbishop for all his dedicated service to the Episcopal Church of Sudan to the level where we are today,” he added.

Daniel Deng Bul, the outgoing archbishop congratulated Arama for winning the election to become the next Primate of the Anglican Church in South Sudan. “Very soon the dean of the provinces is going to send out the time and when is the enthronement is going to be done here in Juba, “he said.
