Anger, mystery surround start of academic year in South Kordofan

A number of parents in South Kordofan have expressed their broad dissatisfaction surrounding the condition of education in the state.

They complain that the date has still not been announced for the schools to re-open for the new academic year.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj from Kadugli, capital of Southern Kordofan, parents lamented that primary school pupils who wrote examinations and were supposed to start secondary school this year face an uncertain fate.

They also complained of poor educational facilities in the majority of the state’s localities. They attribute the reasons for this to “the government's attention to war rather than a passion for the future of their children”.

They urged the education authorities to act promptly and announce the date when classes will resume.
