Anaesthetic shortage suspends all surgery in Nyala Civil Hospital

Nyala civil hospital in South Darfur halted surgical procedures at the hospital yesterday due to a shortage anaesthetic.

A medical source told Radio Tamazuj from Nyala that all emergency surgeries are cancelled and the surgery department can’t operate, leaving dozens of patients without necessary surgery.

“Doctors can’t deal with emergency cases in the hospital,” the source reported.

This is particularly worrying, the source added, due to recent cases resulting from tribal conflict in Um-Dukanand Buram, and warned of worsening conditions to come if the problem is not rectified.
